HEALTH REIMBURSEMENT ARRANGEMENTS (HRAs)
The HRA opportunities abound, and POWERPLUSNT users all over the country are taking advantage of the exciting HRA capabilities that exist in every POWERPLUSNT system:
- The system can automatically roll any claim from a "pay first" account to a "pay after" account (i.e., pay from an FSA first and then pay the excess from an HRA account);
- You can configure POWERPLUSNT to recognize coinsurance amounts and deductible accumulations, and pay claims accordingly;
- You can roll unused account balances at year end; and
- When a claim is entered, the system can automatically pay the claim from the appropriate account - FSA, HRA or HSA.
- And when you are ready to make a payment, you can direct the payment to either the employee or the provider! The Pay to Provider option provides full payment tracking through reports and online lookup screens. You can even make payments via EFT to the providers!
It's easy to prepare utilization reports for your clients and to provide meaningful feedback at year-end so your employer knows how his HRA contributions have been spent.
HEALTHCARE SAVINGS ACCOUNTS (HSAs)
Absolutely the hottest thing going in flex administration, but somewhat of a mystery! You might have questions about your role in HSAs:
- Will you be an HSA administrator, or a custodian/trustee as well?
Or about the tasks that you’ll be asked to perform:
- Will you need an individual billing capability?
- Or the ability to generate year-end tax information for the participants?
Or about contextual issues:
- How will you coordinate these payments with FSAs?
- Have you considered how convenient debit cards will be for the payment of HSA expenses and do you have a card in place?
The good news is, that because of the inherent flexibility of POWERPLUS, many of our clients have realized that they can already administer these new plans on their current POWERPLUS system and they’ve taken steps to build a block of HSA business. But our job is not finished. We’ll be looking at additional enhancements that can be incorporated into the system to make your jobs easier!
